Hello Dreamers,

It's a crisp, overcast morning here in Malibu, and as I cool down from my martial arts training session, I'm filled with a sense of profound appreciation. I've been fortunate enough to train in martial arts schools around the world, absorbing not just the techniques but the rich cultural wisdom each style embodies. Today, I want to take you on a journey through my global martial arts odyssey, a path that has shaped me in ways beyond physical strength.

“The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses... behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.” – Muhammad Ali. This quote resonates with me deeply, as my training extends far beyond the physical realms.

London: My journey began in the heart of England, where I first encountered the disciplined art of boxing. As a young woman stepping into a predominantly male space, I learned the power of resilience and precision. The swift jabs and uppercuts were more than movements; they were lessons in standing my ground and asserting myself with confidence.

Japan: The land of the rising sun introduced me to the graceful yet deadly art of Aikido. In Japan, I learned that true strength lies not in aggression but in redirecting it. The fluidity of Aikido taught me how to transform adversities into opportunities, a skill I've carried into every aspect of my life.

Brazil: In the vibrant country of Brazil, I immersed myself in the dance-like combat of Capoeira. It's where I discovered the joy of movement and the importance of rhythm in combat and life. The ginga, the foundational movement, became a metaphor for the flexibility and adaptability required to navigate life's unpredictable beats.

Thailand: The ancient practice of Muay Thai tested my limits and expanded them. Known as the "Art of Eight Limbs," Muay Thai honed my ability to use my body as a comprehensive tool of expression and defense. It's where I learned the art of endurance and the sweet science of tactical striking.

China: My martial arts pilgrimage wouldn't be complete without delving into the depths of Kung Fu. In China, I was introduced to the harmony of mind, body, and spirit. Kung Fu taught me about the flow of chi and the importance of inner peace in reflecting outward strength.

Every punch, kick, and block in my repertoire carries a story, a cultural insight that has broadened my perspective. My global martial arts journey has been about more than learning to defend myself; it has been a path to self-discovery and personal growth. It has taught me respect, discipline, and the value of traditions. It has shown me that the true essence of martial arts lies not in the power of the strike, but in the wisdom carried through its practice.

As I continue to balance my life's passions with the relentless ticking of the clock, I am reminded that each moment is a chance to learn something new, to stretch my limits, and to connect with the world in profound ways. My martial arts journey is a metaphor for life – constantly evolving, always challenging, and deeply enriching.

Thank you for sharing this journey with me. I hope it inspires you to embrace the unique lessons each day brings and to live with a spirit as indomitable as that of a warrior in the pursuit of growth and happiness.

What’s your own personal odyssey that has shaped who you are today? Share your stories with me, and let's continue to inspire each other.

With love and high kicks,

Victoria Valemorre
